Crawley midfielder Ben Smith writes for Total Football

Crawley Town midfielder Ben Smith starts a new weekly column on Monday - and will deliver his candid opinions on all things football.

Ben started his career at Arsenal and broke into the first team at Reading before moving to Yeovil, where he made more than 100 appearances. Spells at Southend, Hereford, Shrewsbury and Weymouth followed, before he returned to Hereford and made 106 appearances to add to the 70 he made at Edgar Street first time around.

He has an eye for goal, scoring 13 goals for Hereford in 28 league appearances in the 2003-4 season and 10 for Weymouth in 25 league games in 2006-7. Ben joined Crawley in 2009 and played in 34 games in his first season at the Broadfield Stadium, scoring seven goals.

His Crawley highlights to date have included scoring the winning goal in an FA Cup tie against Swindon last season and playing at Old Trafford in the side's 1-0 fifth round defeat against Manchester United.

Don't forget to check in on Monday for Ben's first column!
