One to watch: Yann M'Vila

Watch out for 21-year-old French midfielder Yann M'Vila - he could be coming to a Premier League match near you soon.

Currently playing his club football in France for Rennes, the French international was the target for many top clubs in Europe this summer.

According to some reports, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was keen to add M'Vila to his depleted squad on the final day of the August transfer window. To hold on to the rising star, Rennes slapped a £30m transfer fee on his head.

Yann M'Vila
D.O.B: 29.06.1990 (21)
Nationality: French (13 caps)
Club: Rennes (France)
Position: Midfielder

All that transfer drama wouldn't have phased the young Frenchman. Commenting on his website about his future in May, M'Vila said: "At my age, many players have already gone abroad to earn big money. I know I have room for improvement and it's better I stay at Rennes and continue to progress."

M'vila is one of the first names on the team sheet and among one of Laurent Blanc's favoured central midfielders in the French national team.

The defensive midfielder is intelligent on the ball and his six-foot frame makes him a dominant figure in the centre of the park.

With 13 international caps to his name, comparisons have already been made with Claude Makalele, who made the central defensive midfield role his own in which ever team he played in.In the 2010/11 season, M'Vila made an impressive 42 appearances for club and country. He managed to score two goals and came up with the same amount of assists in Rennes finish sixth in Ligue 1, qualifying for the Europa League.

This season M'Vila has been consistent, featuring in all six league games so far. He has managed to find the back of the net twice already this term, scoring once in a Europa League qualifier in August and netting for France in a Euro Championship Qualifier against Albania earlier this month.

If he continues to perform for both club and country, don't be surprised if the young Frenchman ends up moving away from Rennes in the January transfer window.
