Cambridge part company with Connors

Cambridge United have revealed they have parted company with midfielder Steve Connors by mutual consent.

A statement from the U’s website said: "This now fully concludes the matter and no further comment will be made by either party."

Connors was initially fired from the club for not having informed the relevant authorities about a pre-existing groin injury.

However, after an appeal from the 25-year-old, the club were forced to reinstate him by the Football Conference.

The Blue Square Premier club tried to appeal to the Football Association to intervene, but they declined to overturn the Conference verdict.
