Blades bounce back to jump up to second

Sheffield United recovered from going a goal down against play-off hopefuls Notts County to secure a 2-1 win that took them up to second in the table in Tuesday's only League One fixture.

The visitors, who would have jumped up to seventh and to within a point of the play-off places with a win, took the lead with a 30-yard free-kick from Alan Judge after 17 minutes.

But the Blades were back on level terms with a goal from Ryan Flynn (pictured) on 31 minutes and Alan Sheehan's own goal early in the second half was enough to see United jump above Steel City rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

It was County's third defeat in a row. They finished the game with 10 men after substitute Ishmel Demontagnac was shown the red card for throwing the ball at Matt Lowton's face.

The Blades' win cut title favourites Charlton Athletic's lead at the top of the table to seven points, with automatic promotion chasers United, Wednesday, MK Dons and Huddersfield separated by just two points.
