Ryan blow for Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe have recieved a blow with some unwanted news about the recovery of injured summer signing Jimmy Ryan.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who had been initially ruled out for a month, looks set to be sidelined for a longer period according to tests.

Manager Alan Knill told the club's official website: "It looks like months rather than weeks. He had a scan on Friday and the result wasn't very good. He has quite a bad tear at the base of his medial ligament and it's looking like a fairly long lay-off.

"I am hoping he is going to be back before the specialists have said. Not just for us, but also for him. Jimmy is the sort of player who wants to be out there on the training pitch every day so personally it's a big blow."
