Symes and Baudry join Leyton Orient

Leyton Orient have signed Mathieu Baudry and Michael Symes (pictured) on free transfers following their release by League One side AFC Bournemouth.

Both players have been on Orient manager Russel Slade’s radar for some time. Talking to the club website, he said, "Michael is a clever front man with good technical ability and he is a natural finisher.

"I’m delighted to have signed Mathieu. I had a long chat with Lee Bradbury, who brought him to Bournemouth, and I feel he can push on and improve further with us.

"He’s a good age, is an aggressive defender and is good on the ball too, so we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Former Everton trainee Symes, 28, will make Orient the 14th club he has represented and will be looking to add to the four goals he scored in the second half of last season on loan at Rochdale.

Frenchman Baudry, 24, began his career with Troyes and spent time on loan with Dagenham & Redbridge last season. He revealed he had signed for the O’s on Twitter, saying, "I’m a Leyton Orient player now… Can’t wait to start training."

Both players will join the club for pre-season training, which starts next week. They may well have the opportunity to show Cherries boss Paul Groves he made a mistake releasing them, when Orient visit Bournemouth in early October.
