France storm to victory against Ukraine

France were too strong for Ukraine, beating the co-hosts with a brace of second half goals. 

After a few minutes of play, the match was suspended because of torrential rain and lightning. After a long delay, a decision was taken to put kick-off in the France v England back 15 minutes and play eventually resumed in this game.

The delay appeared to affect both sides in a first half of few chances, but the game finally gather pace after the break.

In the 53rd minute it was 1-0. Franck Ribery found Jeremy Menez in the box with a pass and Menez cut inside before firing a low shot inside Andriy Pyatov's near post.

Three minutes later and it was 2-0. Karim Benzema turned and found Yohan Cabaye inside the box with a pass. Cabaye benefited from a deflection that diverted the ball kindly for him, before he fired a low shot past Pyatov.

France did their best impression of the Brazil 1970 side as they knocked the ball around with ease before Cabaye unleashed a shot that rebounded off the post..
