Sporting turn tie around with two late goals
Athletic Bilbao were perfectly poised to go on to make it an all-Spanish Europa League final, but two late Sporting goals turned the semi-final tie on its head.
Bilbao broke the deadlock in Lisbon on 54 minutes. Sporting had just had penalty appeals turned down, before Emiliano Insua flicked on a free-kick and Jon Aurtenetxe volleyed home from six yards.
The away side almost doubled their advantage soon after. Sporting failed to clear from a corner and Fernando Amorebieta's low strike rebounded off the post.
Sporting equalised on 74 minutes, making it a goal apiece for the two left backs. A cross from the right was only half cleared away and Insua headed back across Bilbao keeper Gorka Iraizoz and into the far corner.
The home side grabbed the lead in the 80th minute. Diego Capel (pictured) received the ball in space just outside the box and cracked a low shot into the corner.
