Hodgson joins sport rich list

It’s not just Roy Hodgson’s experience as a football manager that has been cranked up a notch since his appointment as England manager.

His bank balance is also looking a lot healthier.

With a fortune that now stands at £32m, up £5m on last year, Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson is the wealthiest football manager in The Sunday Times Rich List 2012.

Fergie is joined in the football managers’ rich List this year by Tottenham’s Harry Redknapp, worth £12m, and the new England manager, Roy Hodgson, worth £11m.

Arsenal’s Arsene Wegner, the highest paid manager in the Premier League, with a salary recently reported to be £7.5m a year, has seen his fortune rise by £7m to £26m.

The list is based on identifiable wealth (earnings, property, other assets such as art and racehorses, or significant shares in publicly quoted companies), and excludes bank accounts (to which the paper has no access).
