Northampton Town reject bid for Jacobs

Northampton Town have rejected a bid for midfielder Michael Jacobs from an unnamed Championship club.

Jacobs (pictured) is out of contract in the summer, but the club would still be due compensation because he is under the age of 24 and has been at Northampton since he was 10.

Club chairman David Cordoza admits the players future is up to him. However, he hopes the Cobblers can keep hold of the 20-year-old.

"We hope he stays but there are big clubs interested," said Cordoza. "There have been a number of Premier League clubs watching him - but we have offered him a good contract. To be here might even be better for him."

Jacobs came into the public eye when he scored in front of the Kop against Liverpool to put Northampton 2-1 up in their Carling Cup victory in 2010.
