Ten-man Royals secure Championship title

Reading secured the Championship title with a game to spare as the 10-man Royals drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace at the Madejski Stadium and Southampton lost 2-1 at Middlesbrough.

Wilfried Zaha's smartly-taken 14th minute strike gave Palace the lead at Reading, but the Royals were back on level terms in the 20th minute when Kaspars Gorkss headed home.

The Royals were reduced to 10 men just before half-time with their first red card of the season, when Jason Roberts (pictured) was sent off for what looked like an accidental clash with Jonathan Parr.

Half-time substitute Adam Le Fondre gave Reading the lead on 53 minutes with a close range header, but Palace grabbed a point courtesy of Glenn Murray's equaliser in the 75th minute.

Middlesbrough's 2-1 win against second-placed Southampton means Reading are champions.

Billy Sharp gave the Saints a first-minute lead, but a goal in first half stoppage time from Nick Bailey brought the home side level, and they secured victory with a Merouane Zemmama free-kick in the 77th minute.
