West Ham win at Leicester to keep automatic promotion dream alive

West Ham kept their automatic promotion hopes alive with a 2-1 win at Leicester on Monday night to move to within two points of Southampton with one game to play.

The Foxes took the lead in the 34th minute with a header from Jermaine Beckford, but Winston Reid equalised from close range for the home side five minutes later. The Hammers grabbed a crucial second goal in the 58th minute when Jack Collison's strike from outside of the area found the back of the net.

The win means that West Ham will clinch second spot if they beat Hull on Saturday lunchtime and Southampton lose to relegated Coventry.

If the Hammers beat Hull and Southampton draw against Coventry, second place will be decided on goal difference. The Saints are currently three goals better off than West Ham on goal difference.
