Robins snap up West Ham starlet

Swindon Town have acquired the services of West Ham youngster Cristian Montano on loan.

The highly rated Colombian joins the Robins after being recalled from a loan spell with Notts County earlier this week.

Montano, who scored four goals in 12 games for the Magpies, was recalled from Notts County to supposedly ease the midfield personnel problems at Upton Park after the injury to David Bentley.

Although this now appears not to be the case as Montano now sets his sights on helping Hammers legend Paolo Di Canio gain promotion with Swindon.

The Colombian stated he enjoyed his time at Notts County and had time to praise another Hammers legend Martin Allen.

Montano told West Ham’s official website: "[The loan at Notts County is] probably the best thing I've done in football. I made my debut, played first-team football and scored some goals in League One, which is obviously a good standard of football and only one division below West Ham.

"Everything started in pre-season because I had a good pre-season and the manager gave me some minutes in the first team. That gave me confidence to go out at Notts County and do well. Getting goals was a good thing and I helped the team climbed up the table as well. They have a lot of talent in that team and could go on and get promotion.

"Playing under Martin Allen was crazy because he is mad! I enjoyed my experience - I'd have obviously liked to have got more starts, but now I'm aiming to get them in the future either at West Ham or somewhere else."

Allen also found time to praise Montano and stated that he was very popular with everyone at Notts County. He told Notts County’s official website: "He's been a model professional. Down to earth, humble and hard working. He's very popular with the staff and players."
